ISLAMABAD  -  The federal government is considering reconstitution of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after Eid-ul-Fitr due to certain reasons. “Ministry of Religious Affairs may constitute a committee after Eid-ul-Fitr for re-nomination of Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee,” sources in Ministry of Religious Affairs told The Nation on Saturday.

Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rahman has been heading the committee for the last couple of years and his tenure has also been extended.

Sources said that the reason behind restructuring of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is being taken to further organise the committee functioning, so that the conflict on Ramazan and Shawal moon sighting among followers of different sects of Islam could amicably be resolved.

It would not be out of place to mention here that re-structuring or re-nomination of the committee had earlier been echoed in the Senate standing committee where some members termed the committee controversial and demanded its restructuring.
