The district administration has decided to constitute special teams for clearing city areas of all kinds of encroachments in view of Eidul Fitr. The teams will be consisted of district officials and police and they will carry out operations in Hussain Agahi, Double Phatak, Gardezi Market, Qasim Bela, Mumtazabad and other areas. The District Coordination Officer Zahid Saleem Gondal warned the town officers that they will be booked if encroachments were found in their respective areas. He directed them to clear all bazaars, markets, parks and roads of encroachments and adopt measures on emergency grounds to shift the stands of donkey carts, horse carts and milk houses out of city. He also directed the secretary of Regional Transport Authority to take the traders into confidence and evolve plan for shifting all truck stands outside city area.

Referring to flood, he said that there was low-level flood in Chenab River but Multan had no flood threat. He added that special rescue teams had been constituted to rescue people from riverine areas. He directed the officials of Rescue 1122, Civil Defence and Irrigation Department to improve their liaison and visit riverine areas on daily basis.

TRANSFER STATION FOR METRO BUS

The construction of 250-meter long transfer station for Multan Metro Bus has begun at Chungo No-9. The station will be used for returning the busses to their route. Sources said that the station will also be used for turning busses to Aziz Hotel and Chowk Kumharanwala if the project’s phase two will be launched in future. The station is being constructed adjacent to a bank at Chungi No-9.

Meanwhile, the process to demolish buildings on the route of metro has begun while the affectees have vacated their shops and other properties. Metro sources said that the buildings between Afshar Chowk and Daulat Gate would be demolished in first phase while the shops on Hafiz Jamal Road would be demolished next.

Meanwhile, the director engineering Package-3 & 4 Nazeer Chughtai said that 74 piles had been accomplished on Package-3 and 96 Package-4.
