LAHORE  - Dacoits on Monday shot dead the driver of a cash-van, injured the cashier on offering resistance, and fled after snatching one million rupees in Raiwind police precincts. The driver’s body was moved to the morgue for autopsy.

Sajid, said to be cashier of a private firm, riding in a cash van along with driver Aslam was on his way to deposit Rs1 million to the company’s accounts when two motorcyclists intercepted the vehicle near Manga Road. They held up the cashier at gunpoint and demanded the cash bag. As the driver, Aslam, tried to put up resistance, they opened straight fire on them and fled after snatching the cash.

Police investigators said the driver died on the spot while the cashier was rushed to Jinnah hospital in critical condition. The police reached the spot when the bandits had escaped. The police have registered a case against unidentified gunmen and are investigating with no arrest made yet.

INJURED: A 12-year-old girl got critically wounded when she accidentally fell from the rooftop of her house in Iqbal Town on Monday.

The family told the police that Ayesha Bibi was playing on the rooftop of the two-storey building when she slipped accidentally and fell on the road. She sustained multiple injuries and was admitted to hospital.
