I’m a proud father of Capt (Shaheed) Muhammad Bilal Sunawar who embraced Shahadat on 20 November, 2009 at Pushziarat, South Waziristan, while fighting vigorously with foreign terrorists and showed unprecedented valour, bravery and courage thus set high standards for everyone. He was awarded Tamgh-i-Basalat for offering service for the defence of motherland.

My beloved Shaheed had a unique distinction of commanding three services parade at the inaugural ceremony of Pakistan National Monument, Shakarparian, and Islamabad in 2007, he also conducted various guards of honor for foreign dignitaries, which could be verified from ISPR. He was the first officer from District Jhelum who embraced Shahadat in the initial military operation Rah-e-Nijaat, launched by the government against terrorists in South Waziristan.

As a token of respect, Chief Minister Punjab made a firm commitment with Raja Zafarul Haq (Senator N. League) that the newly constructed road, from Pind Dadan Khan to Khutta Sangral, will be named as Capt (Shaheed) Muhammad Bilal Sunawar. This was especially conveyed to me by phone, that the CM Punjab had given instructions to PWD to name this road as Capt (Shaheed) Muhammad Bilal Road.

This project completed 4 years ago and in spite of dozens of reminders the promise made by the CM remains unfulfilled. The road should be named as promised and this is not a favor I ask, but a promise that must be kept.

CHAUDHRY MUHAMMAD SUNAWAR,

Lahore, July 7.
