PESHAWAR - Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) newly-elected District and Town Council Members hailing from Peshawar chapter Monday threatened to tender their resignations in protest against the arrest of former minister for Mineral Development Ziaullah Afridi by Ehtesab Commission.

Addressing a news conference here at press club, PTI Town Councilor Irfan said that around 30 district council and 17 town council members submit their resignations to their leaders if PTI leader Ziaullah Afridi was not released as soon as possible. Flanked by district councilor members and town council members of Peshawar, Irfan Khan alleged Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak through a conspiracy planned arrest of Zia Ullah Afridi. He said that CM Khattak and Yaseen Khalil were involved in corruption but the provincial Ehtesab Commission was not taking action against them.

He further said that Ziaullah Afridi was not in favour to bring back the Qaumi Watan Party into the provincial government therefore the chief minister removed him and implicated him in fake corruption cases. He said that around 17 FIRs was lodged against the CM but no action was taken by the Ehtesab Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against him so far.

Criticising the Ehtesab Commission, he said that husband of a sitting provincial minister for Information Technology was inducted as DG in the commission and he is also an active member of PTI then how can the commission conduct impartially accountability.

He Khan warned that if PTI leader Ziaullah Afridi was not released then all the district and town council members will tender their resignations in protest and will came on roads against the government.
