ISLAMABAD - Dispelling rumours of her marriage with former president Asif Ali Zardari, PPP USA chapter president Dr Tanveer Zamani on Monday clarified that PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari is his 'leader' and brother.

She also announced to contest next general elections. "I will contest general polls from Liyari and Lahore...I need not any party position as I'm PPP Jiyali," said Dr Tanveer Zamani (who is appearing in electronic media with mystery of her marriage with Zardari), while addressing a press conference here.

"Asif Ali Zardari is my leader. My father met Bhutto and our relation is with Bhuttoism," said Zamani, responding to a volley of question related to her actual relation with Zardari. She further accepted that Tahseen Javed is her husband.

She said there is a need to resolve Kashmir issue. "Pakistan needs to fight Kashmir case with determination," she suggested the government adding that it must respect sacrifices of armed forces.

"COAS Raheel Sharif should continue his mission and the government should support him," she added. "What Raheel Sharif did for Operation Zarb-e-Azab is an achievement," she remarked.

To a question about meeting with PPP Chairman Bilawal Zardari, Tanveer Zamani said that she would definitely meet Bilawal, if got a chance. "Anti-Bhutto people want to create confusion," she said.

When asked about her birth place, she clarified that her family migrated from India when she was only ten months old. "I have never visited India once we migrated," she added.

To a question for staying away from Pakistan, Tanveer Zamani said she was completing her study so she could not manage to come. "There are certain rumours about me...But I would make efforts to mobile youth and that is one of my purposes to return," she said.

She further emphasized on merit in the country in every field. "There should be merit from all. No merit violation from minister to mechanic," she added. Overseas Pakistani should also be given right to vote. "They are in large number and vote right should be given to them," she said.

When her attention was drawn towards PPP spokesperson's denial about her association with the party, Zamani said she had membership of PPP since 1986. "I have relation with party and will continue my struggle to mobilize youth...I need not any party position," she said dodging a question about straight denial from PPP. "I have also read some tickers...I am sitting here without any party position and I am not here to damage democracy," she said adding that she had delivered a lot in Newyork as overseas and now I want to work here.

To a question about her relation with Sajawal Bhutto, she categorically denied any relation with him.

It is relevant to mention here that PPP spokesman Farhat Ullah Babar, a couple of days before, had remarked that Tanveer Zamani has no relation with the party and Asif Ali Zardari.
