LAHORE - One more dengue patient died at a local hospital on Wednesday, taking the death toll in the province to 14 including 10 in Lahore.

Muhammad Saleem, 49, a resident of Muhammad Nagar, died at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

As many as 77 more were tested positive for the deadly virus, taking the number of confirmed cases in the province to 1,694. Out of 77 new cases, 44 were reported from various hospital of Lahore and 33 from Rawalpindi.

Meanwhile, Punjab Healthcare Commission and Pakistan Academy of Family Physicians jointly arranged a seminar on Latest Guidelines on Dengue for Family Physicians at a local hotel on Wednesday.

Advisor to CM Punjab on Health Kh Salman Rafique, Chairman PHC Justice (r) Aamer Raza Khan, Chief Operating Officer PHC Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan and President PAFP Tariq Mahmood Mian, Dr Muhammad Yaqub Kazi and Dr Muhammad Ali Khan addressed the participants. The experts gave detailed presentations on the clinical management and care of dengue patients.

Dengue awareness drive at Civil Lines College

Special Higher Education Secretary Suhel Shahzad and Deputy Secretary Nauman Jamil on Wednesday visited Government Islamia College Civil Lines in connection with dengue awareness campaign.

The senior education high-ups, along with Principal Prof Javed Ahmed Bajwa, also visited the college hostel as well as dengue stall and praised the measures taken to eradicate the dengue virus. Suhel Shahzad lauded the timely and radical steps of CM Shahbaz Sharif to control the menace. Principal Prof Javed Bajwa appreciated the efforts of all the teachers and students of the college for eradication of the dengue virus.
