LAHORE - The Punjab government on Wednesday approved eight uplifts schemes of various sectors with an estimated cost of Rs11.82b.

These schemes were approved in the 17th meeting of Provincial Development working Party of current fiscal year 2013-14 presided over by the Punjab PDBC, Irfan Elahi.

Provincial Secretary P&D Arif Anwar Baloch, all members of the Planning & Development Board, Provincial Secretaries concerned and other senior representatives of the relevant Provincial Departments also attended the meeting.

The approved development schemes included: Capacity Building of Elementary Teachers Training Institutions in Punjab (Modified) at the cost of Rs. 3137.752m, Punjab Literacy Movement Project at the cost of Rs. 1824.369m, Up-Gradation District Hospital Sargodha at the cost of Rs. 1035.443m, Feasibility Study for Water Treatment Plant, Lahore (PC-II) at the cost of Rs. 10.00m,  Signal Free Junctions at Azadi Chowk, at the cost of Rs. 3834.364m,  Circular Road from New Azadi Chowk to Masti Gate at the cost Rs. 1834.153m, Feasibility Study for Biomass Power Generation in the Punjab Province (PC-II) at the cost of Rs. 6.150m and Feasibility Study for the Projects (PC-II):- Flyover at Defence Road, at the cost of Rs. 26.900m, Construction of G.T. Road Expressway from Shahdara to Kala Shah Kaku, at the cost of Rs.86.800m and Construction of Southern Bypass Lahore (on PPP Basis) at the cost of Rs. 26.500 million.
