Despite serving for more than 10 years on contractual basis, the services of more than 900 Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants (MEAs) working under the Punjab Chief Minister Monitoring Force (PCMMF) across the province have been ignored in the regularisation process of contractual employees.

This is sheer injustice and violation of the Punjab Chief Minister orders under which the services of thousand of contractual employees, working in different government departments have been regularised. While talking to the newsmen Punjab Monitoring Association (PMA) Provincial President Rana Ashfaq informed that the PCMMF department was established in 2004 under which as many as 900 MEAs were inducted on contractual basis to monitor the Education Department. These MEAs served the department with dedication which is evident from the fact that today there is neither any ghost school nor any ghost teacher or any other ghost employee available in education department across Punjab. Besides monitoring of the Education Department, these MEAs are also tasked with different other tasks which they complete honestly including monitoring of health department and different development projects.  He pointed out that the Punjab Chief Minister had ordered regularisation of all contractual employees but the services of MEAs could not be confirmed allegedly due bureaucratic hurdles and red-tapism. “Look this clearly personal liking and disliking otherwise the MEAs deserve to be regularised,” he regretted.

Rana Ashfaq revealed that no increase had been granted to the MEAs despite the fact that the government announced pay raise on annual basis in budget. He said that recently more than 56,000 LHWs working on contract basis had been regularised but the MEAs had been ignored. It seems a clear picture of the contractual employees was not conveyed to the Punjab CM,” he expressed his doubt. He demanded the Punjab Chief Minister to take notice of this injustice and issue directives to the officers concerned for the regularisation of the MEAs.
