Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed that foolproof security arrangements should be made in the province for Muharramul Haram and, in view of the existing situation, all necessary measures must be taken for the protection of life and property of the citizens.

The CM further said that security plan evolved for this purpose should be strictly implemented. He said that concerned departments and agencies should perform their duties with best coordination. He said that all out resources would be provided to police for ensuring peace and tranquility and it should perform its responsibilities with commitment and efficiency.

According to an official handout, the Chief Minister stated this while presiding over a high-level meeting to review overall law and order situation in the province here on Monday. Punjab Home Secretary and Inspector General of Police gave a detailed briefing to the Chief Minister in this regard. Provincial Ministers Shuja Khanzada, Bilal Yasin, Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Member Provincial Assembly Rana Sanaullah, Special Assistant Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Chief Secretary and Secretary Health, Secretary Information and other concerned officers were also present in the meeting.

He said the Cabinet Committee should visit headquarters to review the arrangements. He stressed that an effective communication system should be evolved.
