OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE An old woman and her one-year-old granddaughter were killed while two other members of the same family wounded seriously when the roof of their house caved in with a bang here in Shahdra area, police and rescue workers said on Tuesday. A poor and retired police official, ASI Sadiq Masih, was residing along with his wife, children and grandchildren in the two-Marla house that collapsed in the afternoon, police said. Rescue workers and ambulances rushed to the house situated near Matches factory in Shahdra area soon after some local residents informed the emergency service (Rescue 1122). The rescuers pulled out four of the family members, who were present at home at that time, with severe injuries and shifted them to a local hospital. Two of the wounded died at the hospital later while the condition of the injured was reported to be critical. The deceased were identified as Naseem Bibi, 60 and her one-year-old granddaughter Maheen. Shumaila Bibi, 22, and her son were seriously injured in the incident, rescue workers said.
