KARACHI - Torrential rain on Tuesday claimed seven lives in the City. Downpour compelled the citizens to stay inside their homes as intermittent rains continue from Sunday. All the commercial and private activities across the City were shut due to heavy showers. On Tuesday, an average 60 millimetre rain was recorded in the City. Public transport was also remained off the roads which also increased the woes of the citizens. Heavy rainfall claimed at least seven more people including a woman in different parts of the City. Majority of the victims died because of electrocution and roofs collapses. Two brothers, who were later identified as Gul Din, 55, and Ilyas, 52, lost their lives when the wall of their house collapsed. They were sleeping at the moment in their house located in Wahid Colony in North Nazimabad. Police said that both the victims had their private businesses. Their bodies were shifted to a nearest private hospital from where their families took them away without legal formalities. Separately, a man identified as Roshan Khan and a woman namely Bilqis Bibi, 40, died and another Faraz, 35, was injured when the roof of their house located near Kati Pahari collapsed. A shopkeeper Muhammad Zahid, 50, son of Abdullah, died of electrocution when an electricity wire crumpled near Burns Road.
