PESHAWAR - At least four children were killed and 18 others got injured when an unknown miscreant fired rocket and triggered indiscriminate firing on a school bus in Mattni area, outskirt of Peshawar on Tuesday. Sources said that the school bus of Khyber Model School was carrying students back to their homes when an unknown miscreant fired a rocket and then opened indiscriminate firing on school bus. The incident resulted in killing of four children and injuring of 18 others. Soon after the incident, a large number of people and policemen reached the site to retrieve the students from bus. The injured students were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar. The injured students were identified as Jaweria, 8, Ali, 8, Sabir, 4, Irshad, 12, Imran 15, Mohammad Umar, 15, Arshad Alam, 15, Shoaib, 9, Hafeezullah, 16, Hazrat Anas, 16, Farhat Shah, 12, Hamid, 13, Murtaza, 18, Abdul Karim 18, Shah Hussain, 18. Those who killed identified as Mohammad Farooq, 20, Niaz Mir, 30, who was driver of the bus. The names of two other children were not confirmed till the filing of this report. Talking to TheNation SHO Mattni Police Station Qayum Khan said that the attack was launched by the miscreant present in the adjacent tribal area. He said they started raids under the supervision of SP rural and soon the responsible elements would be brought to the book. It may be mentioned here that militants had threatened that they would attack the children of those who have establishes armed Lashkar against militants, however despite of this warning no security was provided to these school buses which resulted in this untoward incident. Meanwhile, in a separate incident an unknown person opened firing on a policeman identified Hiadauatullah, and injured him. He was shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar.
