OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - Pakistan hockey team former captain Zeeshan Ashraf said that he was available for Pakistan hockey team whenever it required his services. Talking to this scribe, Zeeshan Ashraf said: I am always available for Pakistan team and whenever Pakistan Hockey Federation will ask me to join, I will provide my services for the team and try my best to bring good name to the country with my performance. Talking about performance of Pakistan hockey team during the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, Zeeshan stated: Pakistan team performed well in the inaugural Mens Asian Hockey Champions Trophy in China but unfortunately, they have lost their important match by the arch-rivals India in the final of the event. All the players especially youngsters exhibit their prowess during the event which is a good omen for Pakistan hockey which is facing tough times but after this great performance, it seems that Pakistan hockey will regain its lost glory soon. He further said: Pakistan team tried their best to win the final of the inaugural event and also tried hard to maintain their record of winning inaugural of every hockey event but it totally depends upon luck when match is decided by plenty shootouts. Pakistan team played superb hockey during the event and proved that they will deliver during the upcoming mega events of hockey. Zeeshan said that he was fully available for the hockey team and its up to hockey federation, either they gave me chance or not. It is pertinent to mention here that after the Pakistan hockey team won the gold medal in the Asian Games under the captaincy of Zeeshan Ashraf, the PHF decided to give rest to the senior players and provide included a great number of youngsters in the national team to provide them international exposure. The PHF officials said that they would call back seniors for the Champions Trophy and Olympics 2012 so now its time to recall senior players and make them ready for the mega events which would surely strengthen the team and the chance of winning the mega events would be more clear.
