RAWALPINDI - Cricket-loving fans were left irritated by the absence of Boom Boom Shaid Afridi and Misb-ul-Haq, who both opted not to play last group match for their respective regions.

It was sheer injustice especially by Afridi not to play the last match, which was although a dead rubber as far as overall impact of the pool was concerned as Karachi Blues had already qualified for the semifinals. But Afridi should have respected the feelings of masses, who just turn up in huge numbers early, as crowd thronged Pindi Cricket Stadium. They were hugely disappointed, when they came to know that Boom Boom was not playing the match against Peshawar but had also left for Karachi.

Afridi should have rested but stayed with the team, which could have double impact, as his team moral was sky high and spectators could have watched a glimpse of him, which would ensure spectators in bulk. Earlie,r PCB security team including by Younis Butt, Col Ashfaq, GM Admin had a detailed meeting with Rawalpindi Islamabad Sports Journalists Association (RISJA) as there were too many issues of grave importance faced by the sports journalists and finding it really difficult to perform their official duties. RISJA president Mohsin Ali assured his all-out support to PCB security staff. RISJA president and members highly lauded Shakeel Khan’s efforts and cooperation and suggested PCB must announce special incentive bonus for Shakeel Khan and entire support staff, who worked day and night to ensure smooth conduct of the event and provided top class assistance to media persons.
