ISLAMABAD:  Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has vowed to continue efforts to ensure the rule of law.  

Addressing a ceremony at the advent of the New Judicial Year in Islamabad today, he said it will be his utmost effort to ensure the provision of speedy and inexpensive justice to the litigants.      

The Chief Justice pointed out that the judiciary disposed of some cases of extraordinary nature in the last judicial year.

The judgement in the 18th and 19th constitutional amendment case was given in the best interest of public welfare. This judgment also articulated the powers of the parliament and the judiciary.

Similarly, he said the judicial commission in 2013 general elections furnished its recommendations in accordance with the law and constitution.    

The Chief Justice said a strategy will be evolved in consultation with bar to ensure speedy disposal of cases.
