LAHORE - The Pakistan Awami Tehreek has alleged billions of rupees have been misappropriated during seven years rule of Shahbaz Sharif in Punjab.

In a statement yesterday, PAT spokesperson Noorullah Siddique said the accountability of Punjab rulers should start from the Model Town incident.

Giving details, the spokesperson said: “NAB has done nothing against the Punjab Education Minister despite video evidence of taking bribe. Illegally built plaza of Rana Sanaullah came to light in the media and the CM ordered an inquiry but several months have passed and the nation awaits the inquiry report. One-judge commission Justice Mansoor Ali Shah was appointed to investigate the multi-billion rupee corruption in the Barragarr construction and repair project. A secretary found guilty of corruption but the Punjab CM promoted him to a more lucrative post.”

Spokesperson added: “The Punjab government failed to make public the ‘sasti roti’ project report. Today those ‘tandoors and sasti roties’ are nowhere to be seen. Over Rs30 billion were spent on this project.”

Billions were looted in the name of Danish Schools project which turned out to be a big flop. Billions were approved and taken by officials for the Punjab Youth Festival and factious records were created. There is no record of the spending on the Youth Festival and thus no audit could be conducted.”

Nandipur project caused a loss of billions of rupees. The CM claimed that Rs13 billion have been spent on the solar power project but actually over Rs150 billion loans have been acquired by the Punjab Government for that project. The Punjab CM had spent the funds allocated for health, education and environment on his baby projects the Metro Bus.
