RAWALPINDI - Peshawar Region outclassed Afridi-less Karachi Blues by seven wickets and qualified for the semifinals of the Cool & Cool Present Haier Mobile T20 Cup 2015 here at Pindi cricket stadium on Sunday.

Peshawar, Karachi Blues, Multan Region and Sialkot qualified for the semifinals. Karachi Blues will take on Multan in the first semifinal today (Monday) at 4:00pm while Peshawar face stiff Sialkot challenge in the second semifinal to be played at 8:00pm.

In the first match played at Pindi Stadium, Peshawar opted to field first after winning the toss. Karachi scored 156-7. Khalid Latif (40), Fawad Alam (37), Sarfaraz Ahmed (23) and Shahzaib Hasan (23) batted well. For Peshawar, Imran Khan Jr completed a sensational hat trick by removing Sarfraz Ahmed, Fawad Alam and Anwar Ali on successive deliveries. He also captured Shahzaib Hasan wicket to complete match with figures 4 for 24. Zohaib Khan took 2 for 26 and Test bowler Imran Khan Sr also chipped in with 1 for 25.

Peshawar reached home in 18 overs for the loss of three wickets. Israrullah hammered stylish 82 while wicketkeeper M Rizwan made unbeaten 40. Iftikhar Ahmed made 19. For the very first time highly just decision was made by the match referee as he awarded joint man of the match to Imran Khan Jr and Israrullah.

In the second match played at same venue, Lahore Region carved out six-wicket consolation victory against ordinary looking Faisalabad, who were missing the services of Misbah-ul-Haq and magician off spinner Saeed Ajmal. Faisalabad stand in skipper Khurram Shahzad won the toss and decided to make first use of the pitch. Faisalabad scored 140-7 wickets, thanks purely to lone fighter Raheel Ameer single-handedly gave respectability to Faisalabad total with polished unbeaten knock of 87 off 55 balls. Lanky fast bowler M Irfan was simply unplayable as he rattled Faisalabad batting and captured 3 for just 9 runs. Sajid Watto grabbed 2 for 26.

Lahore started run-chase in worst possible fashion as inform Ahmed Shahzad was clean bowled after scoring just one run/ it was Saad NAsim, who hit some lusty blows and remained unbeaten at 37. Azhar Ali made 35, Umar Saddique 34. Ehsan Adil picked up 2 for 16. Raheel Ameer was named player of the match.

In the first match of the day played at Diamond Ground Islamabad, hosts Islamabad had to suffer 4th defeat in the event, as they were outclassed by Abbottabad Region by six wickets.

Younus Khan after winning the toss invited Islamabad to bat first, who were bowled out for 146 in 19 overs. Shan Masood and Shahid Yousaf made 34 each. M Naeem destroyed Islamabad batting with his powerful bowling spell capturing 5 for 31. Kamran Ghulam took 2 for 27.

Thanks to a whirlwind batting display by Fakhar Zaman, who hit 78 in 39 balls, Abbottabad Region achieved the target in 15.1 overs, Naeem was given man of the match award.

In the second match played at same venue, Sialkot thrashed Bahawalpur Region by 10 wickets which sent hosts Rawalpindi out of the semifinal race even before the start of their match against Hyderabad.

After electing to bat first, Bahawalpur could post just 96-7. Kamran Hussain top scored with 43. Hasan Ali bowled superbly capturing 4 for 1 while Usama Mir also took 2 for 7.

Mukhtar Ahmed was in awesome mood as he hit unbeaten 55 in 25 balls. Nauman Anwar also scored unbeaten 45 in 23 balls, Hasan Ali was named player of the match,

Hyderabad stunned Rawalpindi by two wickets in the Pool-A last match played at Pindi cricket stadium on Sunday.

Man of the match Shoaib Laghari brought his side closer, before Nauman hit six on the second last delivery, when Hyderabad required 5 runs on 2 deliveries to give Hyderabad stunning victory.

Hyderabad lose skipper Sharjeel Khan very early and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals, but Laghari kept them in the hunt and at one stage they required 24 in 18 deliveries. Yasir Arafat was introduced in the attack he proved why he is rated best T/20 bowler of the world as he claimed two wickets in 1 over and conceded just 1 run, to all but end Hyderabad hopes, Yasir Arafat picked 3 for 20, while Asghar took 1 for 28.

Earlier, Rawalpindi skipper Sohail Tanvir won the toss and opted to bat first. Rawalpindi posted 158-8. Umar Amin made 52, Hammad Azam 23. Nouman Ali took 3 for 31 and Sohaib Laghari grabbed 2 for 29.
