LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that funds are trust of the nation and every penny of public money is being spent honestly only on the welfare of the masses and provision of basic amenities to them.

He was talking to a delegation of office-bearers and workers of PML-N, here yesterday.

He said that billions of rupees of public money have been saved by holding successful negotiations with the lowest bidders for various projects and this example set up by Punjab government is unprecedented in the history of the country.

He said that Pakistan Muslim League-N government has served the people selflessly during the last seven years and effective measures are being taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for coping with the challenges being faced by the country. He said that transparency, standard and speedy completion of development projects is the hallmark of PML-N government.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab government is spending billions of rupees on education, health, water supply and other public welfare projects. He said that mega projects of public welfare have been completed expeditiously and in a transparent manner throughout the province and people are fully benefitting from these projects.

He said that the culture of merit, transparency and speedy completion of development projects has been promoted in the province. He said that a big programme has been started for the provision of potable water in all tehsils of Punjab till 2017 under Saaf Pani Project and billions of rupees are being spent for this purpose.

He said that special attention has been paid to the improvement of health facilities in the province. He said that besides construction of new hospitals, availability of doctors and medicines is being ensured in tehsil and district headquarters hospitals and rural and basic health centers.

The chief minister said that foundation stone of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center has been laid in Lahore and hundred percent free treatment will be provided to poor and deserving patients in the institute.

He said that Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute will be a masterpiece with regard to medical science, clinical research and provision of medical facilities and it will be upto the standard of the best institutes of its time in the world. Shehbaz Sharif said that provision of modern treatment facilities to the common man is the priority of the government. He said that the project of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute will be for the whole country and patients of all regions will receive medical care at this centre as Pakistan comprises Punjab, Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Sindh, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. He said that Punjab government has included people of all the provinces as well as Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan in all its programmes which have promoted national solidarity. He said that best treatment facilities will be available to liver and kidney patients in the institute. The Chief Minister said that the golden principles of honesty, trust and hard work will be adopted to make Pakistan a developed and prosperous country. He said that every effort will be made to change the sorrows and problems of the people into joys and happiness and the sincere endeavors of the government to steer the country out of crisis will prove fruitful.
