FAISALABAD- A target has been fixed to administer the anti-polio vaccine to about 1.3 million children up to five years of age in the district during a three-day campaign starting from Monday (today), an official said.

As many as 2,846 teams would remain active during the campaign for achieving the targets, he said. The campaign was inaugurated by a district administration officer. He directed the Health Department officers to make the anti-polio campaign a success by adopting coordinated strategy to achieve the targets.

He said that the campaign must be extended up to further two days for administrating the polio drops to children left over due to any reason. He said that polio would be eradicated from roots for which repeated drives had been carried out.

He advised that the polio teams be deployed at bus stands, railway station, airport, motorway interchange, entry and exit points of the city and other areas for administration of vaccine drops. He directed that the media be utilised for the awareness of the parents regarding anti-polio campaign besides making announcement through speakers.

The DCO appealed to the parents for extending cooperation with the polio teams. He said that the children up to five years of age must be administered the vaccine drops even then they have already taken vaccine many times in the past. DO Health Dr Nawazish Ali said that comprehensive arrangements had been made for drive.
