LAHORE - Adviser to Prime Minister on Aviation Captain Shujaat Azeem has directed to rebuild the runway of Quetta International Airport that has out-lived its useful life due to fair wear and tear, said spokesman of CAA on Sunday.

Azeem visited Quetta International Airport and inspected technical and passengers related facilities, During his visit to all areas of the airport, he directed that general facilities including escalators, air-conditioning, cleanliness and attitude of all personnel need vital improvement on urgent basis to bring it at par with international standards. He visited Headquarters Civil Aviation Authority and was introduced to all CAA Directors and DG ASF.  During his introductory speech, he categorically conveyed the desire of the Prime Minister to improve all the facilities at our airports.  He strongly emphasised the need of better working standards and warned that there would be zero tolerance for corruption.

In the end, he said that he needs the support and whole-hearted cooperation of all personnel of CAA to meet the target.

In continuation to the PM directive, Shujaat Azeem visited Multan Airport on 28 June 2013 and witnessed the ongoing expansion work. 

He showed his satisfaction on the design and quality of work, however, he instructed to enhance the pace of work. He also directed to explore the possibility of increasing the number of avio-bridges keeping in view the projected increase of future traffic.
