KHANEWAL-Gross irregularities have been unearathed in the postings of 691 educators in Khanewal district while the administration has sought a report from the EDO education in this regard.

The teachers and their parents have alleged that the clerk mafia at educational departments with strong support of their bosses has posted teachers on their choice after taking bribe and ignoring the merit policy.

According to sources, the Khanewal Education Department has recruited a total 691 educators of different grades. During the recruitment process, DEO (E) Abida Nasreen Siddiqui and DEO (E) Malik Jamil Khalid were the focal persons. The EDO education and the DCO Khanewal were supervising and monitoring the process.

The merit policy for recruitment and posting was defined by the Education Department that the jobs will be awarded on merit. However, they said, after the recruitment of the 691 educators, the clerk mafia allocated the stations by ignoring the merit.

The teachers listed on top numbers of merit list were allocated schools of remote areas while those “greased their palms” were posted in the schools of their choice near their homes.

The sources also said that the “corrupt” clerks were now trying to convince the teachers to join the remote area schools by giving them luncheons. They also threaten the teachers that if they launch any complaint against them with the DCO or other appropriate forum, their recruitment will be cancelled.

EDO Education Rao Muhammad Shahid while giving his version said that he had recently been posted as EDO. However, he pledged to take action if any irregularity was founded. DCO Usman Muazzam has also taken notice of the issue on complaints and sought an inquiry report from EDO education about the postings of educators in remote areas.
