BUREWALA- A rickshaw driver was shot dead and three others sustained critical injuries when armed motorcyclists attacked a wedding party here in Basti Allahabad, Chak 261/EB the other day.

According to the residents, Manzoor Ahmad Qureshi, a resident of Basti Allahabad, Chak 261/EB, arranged a dance party at the wedding of his son and daughter. As the function went on, a man identified as Mubarak Qureshi, started dancing with the female dancers under the influence of alcohol. He got scuffled with Manzoor’s son Samar alias Sunny when he tried to stop him. The police were called in to resolve the matter but they did not take any action.

Next morning, two armed motorcyclists opened fire on the wedding ceremony of Manzoor’s daughter and fled away. As a result, Samar alias Sunny, Nauman Taj and two passersby identified as Ghulam Rasool and a rickshaw driver Muhammad Ashfaq were injured critically.

They were shifted to THQ Hospital where doctors referred Ashfaq to Nishtar Hospital Multan where he succumbed to his injuries.

Following the incident, family of the deceased rickshaw driver protested against the incident by placing the dead body on road near Chak 261/EB. They blamed the police negligence for the incident and demanded registration of a case the accused under Anti-Terrorism Act.

According to police sources, the police have registered a case against Mubarak Ali Qureshi, Seena, Nadeem alias Deema, Bashrat Qureshi, Shani Dogar of Chak 104/EB, Niaz Ahmad Joyia, and Sajjad and five unknown persons under Sections 148,149,324, 302 PPC.
