LAHORE - Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had said China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a guarantee to development and prosperity of Pakistan.

 “A new era of progress will usher in the region with the completion of CPEC projects,” the Chief Minister said while talking to Chinese Consul General Yu Boren yesterday.

Matters of mutual interests, Pak-China relations, promotion of cooperation in various sectors and projects under CPEC were discussed in the meeting.

The CM said that Pak-China friendship is unprecedented and CPEC is an unforgettable gift of China to Pakistan. He said the work on these projects underway.

Yu Boren praised Shehbaz for timely completing development projects and Sharif has set a record of completion of development projects with speed and standard and under his leadership, the Punjab government has ensured timely completion of development projects which is appreciable.

Separately, American Consul General Zachary Harkenrider met CM Shahbaz here and shared views on the matters of mutual interest, Pak-America relations and promotion of cooperation in different sectors.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that present government is striving to make Pakistan a peaceful state. He said that setting up of a society based on restraint, tolerance and brotherhood is the mission of the government.

He said that Pakistan today is more stable economically than the past. The Chief Minister said that there are multidimensional relations between Pakistan and America. He said that consistent efforts are needed to further promote ties between the two countries. Zachary Harkenrider said that America attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan. He also praised CM Shahbaz for the completion of public welfare projects in a speedy and transparent manner.

In a meeting with Adviser to PM on Political Affairs Jam Mashooq Ali, Shehbaz slammed PTI chief Imran Khan for doing ‘politics of criticisms’ 

Alluding to the PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said, those who raised hue and cry of ‘offshore’ of others have themselves found involved in corruption.

“Those who looted national resources and got heavy loans waived off, must be held accountable and brought to justice, the Chief Minister said. With reference to victory of the PML-N in PK-8, the CM said the enlightened people of KP exposed those who raised the slogan of ‘Naya Pakistan’.

He said that Pakistan is passing through a critical phase and the PML-N government is doing its best to take fix problems.

He said that the government always promoted politics of values and it saved Rs215 billion in development projects.

Shehbaz said that it is time for unity and collective efforts for the progress of the country. He said that joints efforts will have to be made for taking Pakistan forward. He said that politics is the name of selfless service to the people, therefore, PML-N government is ensuring a high standard and transparency in the implementation of public welfare projects.

He said that every efforts of the government is directed towards welfare of the masses.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has sought a report from administration and police authorities regarding tense situation in Nankana Sahib. He ordered that all out measures should be taken to ensure law and order and implementation of law. The Chief Minister said that no one would be allowed to take law in his hands.
