KHYBER AGENCY - Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC) Major General Mazhar Shaheen Khattak on Saturday paid a brief visit to Pak-Afghan Torkham border following the closure of Torkham border for around three days.

Flanked by Commandant Khyber Riffle, Colonel Tariq Hafiz, Assistant Political Agent Rahimullah Mehsud and others, IG FC examined the overall situation after tension escalated between both Afghan and Pakistan authorities on Torkham border.

He also inspected the site where the Pakistani officials initiated fencing at the border that was objected by Afghan authorities five days back.

Prior to it, strict security measures had been taken on arrival of Mazhar Shaheen Khattak in the area. However, he visited Torkham border a day after it was reopened for pedestrians and thousands of trailers on both sides of bordering area.

The Pak security officials restarted working on installation of fencing in limitations of Pakistani side after the current meeting between Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and Afghan Ambassador in Islamabad.
