PESHAWAR : Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has rejected the results of the by-elections held at Peshawar PK-8 constituency and decided to take the matter to the court.

While addressing a press conference here at press club on Saturday, PPP provincial leadership including former provincial president Rahimdad Khan said that PPP candidate had won the election, as result came in favour of PPP candidate Malik Tehmash, but later on the results were tempered, he alleged.

He added that results were changed in favour of the PML-N candidate Arbab Wasim Hayat, which he termed as rigging.

Flanked by PPP former MNA Noor Alam Khan, former provincial minister Humayun Khan, Akbar Khan Advocate, and Malik Tehmash, Rahimdad demanded of the Election Commission to make biometric verification of the votes cast in only Union Council Khazana and UC Haryana in PK-8.

Furthermore, he said that the party has also set-up a legal committee headed by PPP senior lawyer Barrister Masood Kausar to look into the matter and chalk out the future line of action.

The PPP leadership also alleged PML-N of rigging the elections. They stated that initially it was declared that PPP candidate won the by-elections of the very constituency but the results were later on changed and PML-N’s candidate was declared as the winner, which is astonishing.
