LAHORE - Some unidentified robbers looted valuables - gold ornaments and cash worth 1.5 millions - from the in-laws of a renowned Pakistani cricketer Kamran Akmal in Iqbal Town Police precincts on Sunday, police said. Salman, brother in law of Cricketer Kamran Akmal, revealed the media men that he along with his mother Riffat Ilyas and other family members was going to his uncles house located in Khyber Block Iqbal Town to attend a wedding ceremony. When they reached outskirts of his uncles house and was about park his car, two unidentified motorcyclists, equipped with sophisticated weapons approached them from behind and held them on gun point, he said. Salman further claimed that dacoits snatched valuables worth 1.5 millions including one thousand dollars diamond ring, 25 tolay jewelry, imported wrist watch, mobile phones and cash from them and managed to escape from the scene. Iqbal Town police officers after being informed reached the scene and started probing into the matter on the complaint of Salman. Iqbal Town SHO Faisal however showed his concerns about the money looted by the robbers and said that according to him, robbers have looted lesser money as compared to claim made by the victim party. He however pledged to take strict action against the accused. No case was registered till filing of this report with the accused still at large. Further investigation is underway.
