LAHORE - Higher Education Commission has offered the best University Teacher Award for the year 2009 to Punjab University Dean Education Faculty Prof Dr Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal in recognition of his contribution and performance in the field of research and education, said spokesman of the varsity on Sunday. He said the award would be conferred on him in a ceremony to be held on December 1, 2010. The award consists of a certificate and cash prize of Rs 0.1 million. Prof Dr Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal has also been awarded Quaid-e-Azam Gold Medal by Tahreek-e-Istehqam-e-Pakistan recently. Prof Iqbal has published more than 50 articles/papers in journals of International repute and has over 30 years of varsity teaching experience to his credit for promoting the cause of education in the country. In acknowledgement of his outstanding contributions, the Government of Pakistan also awarded him a Civil Award Izaz-e-Fazeelat in 2007. Prof Dr Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal holds Master degree in Science Education from University of London, PhD under Split Programme between University of the Punjab and University of London as well as Post-Doc from University of Texas as full Bright Scholar in 2004-2005. He has participated in more than sixty international workshops, seminars and conferences, mostly abroad and has delivered keynote papers and addresses in more than 30 conferences.
