KARACHI – Eight people were gunned down in separate acts of violence in different parts of the metropolis here on Wednesday.According to details, a seminary teacher was gunned down at Ghazi Salahuddin Road within the remits of Bahadurabad police station.Police said that the victim namely Maulana Samiullah, 32, was left to the mosque for some work where unidentified assailants riding a motorbike stopped him and sprayed a bullet and managed to flee from the scene. Resultantly, he sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. Police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to JPMC for autopsy and later handed over to his heirs. Police said the deceased belonged to deoband sect was associated with Masjid-e-Tauheed where he used to teach seminary students. Police suspected sectarianism behind the murder.Similarly, a man was shot dead in Nishtar Road within the jurisdiction of Jamshed Quarter police station.Police said that the victim namely Imran, 25, was standing outside his cabin near his mosque where unidentified assailants came and shot him dead. Police rushed to the spot after getting information and shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy and later handed over to his heirs. Police said the victim was a Moazzan (prayer caller) at a mosque. When The Nation contacted Maulana Taj Hanfi, spokesman for Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, formerly known as outlawed Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan, claimed Qari Imran’s and Maulana Samiullah’s affiliation with the organization. He said that the frequent target killings forcing the deoband sect people to take law into their hands. He also strongly condemned the killings. However, an alleged land grabber was shot dead by two armed motorcyclists when he was sitting at his son’s teashop at Ilyas Goth in Ibrahim Hyderi police precincts. Police said that deceased identified as Saifullah, 55, was killed over land dispute with his rival group members namely Majeed, Pervez and Abdullah. Police registered a case against them on the complainant of victims’ son.A factory worker was gunned down in Metroville area within the remits of Manghopir police station.Police said that the victim identified as Ghulam Shabbir, 32, was going to his work when unidentified armed riders shot him twice. Resultantly he received multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. Police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to family. The motive behind the killing has yet to be ascertained.A man was gunned down in Basheer Chowk area in New Karachi Industrial area police precincts.Police said the victim was identified as Muhammad Kashif, 25, was returning back home after closing his poultry shop when unidentified assailants shot on his head and managed to flee, resultantly he died on the spot. Police handed over his body to heirs after completing medicolegal formalities at ASH. Police believed that the motive behind the killing was personal enmity. A young man was shot dead at sector 34/2 Korangi area within the limits of Korangi police station.Police said that the victim was shot dead by unidentified culprits. The identification of the victim has yet to be ascertained till filling the report. Police claimed to have recovered drug from the victim’s pocket and believing that the victim was a drug addicts. Police moved the body morgue for identification after autopsy at JPMC.A beautician namely Sumaira, wife of Tariq, was killed inside her house in Junejo Town within the jurisdiction of Baloch Colony police station. Police said the deceased was stabbed to death with knife, adding that her husband was taken into custody for his possible involvement in his wife’s murder over family dispute. A former worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was gunned down in New Karachi within remits of Bilal Colony police station. Police said deceased was identified as Sudheer alias Lala, 29. Police said the victim was a former MQM worker and was sitting outside his home when two armed motorcyclists shot him dead. Police shifted to the body to ASH for autopsy.
