LAHORE - Through a letter, Member National Assembly, Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani has lodged a compliant with Punjab Chief Secretary Nasir Mehmood Khosa against the Punjab government which has withdrawn security cover from former Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and his family, which, according to him, was facing serious security threats from terrorists.

The PPP lawmaker has noted that it was highly alarming that the security of the former head of the government had been withdrawn and he, along with his family had been left on the mercy of the terrorists and enemies of the state.

“It is very unfortunate that despite it being a constitutional and legal responsibility, Punjab Government is not providing sufficient security to former Prime Minister Syed YusufRazaGilani and his family members despite being a direct target of terrorists”, says the opening paragraph of Junior Gilani’s letter to the chief secretary, copies of which have also been sent to the chief minister and the Inspector General Police, Punjab.

In the said letter, Abdul Qadir has also invited top bureaucrat’s attention towards a recent police operation in which some terrorists have been apprehended from Lahore on 10th of November and the sensitive details revealed by them.

“I personally have also been getting threatening letters for the last few years which are enclosed here within. I demand that fool proof security be provided without any delay to the former Prime Minister and his family to avoid any unfortunate incident in future”, Gilani has written to the CS.

In the end, Junior Gilani has warned that, God forbid, in case of any unfortunate incident that may take place with the former Prime Minister or any of his family members; he would hold Punjab Government responsible. This request must, therefore; be taken seriously, the letter concludes.
