ISLAMABAD (PR) – The participants of 12th Senior Management Course (SMC) comprising of senior Govt officers from various Federal & Provincial Govt. departments, autonomous and public sector organisations visited PEMRA Headquarters here on Wednesday. The visit was scheduled in line with the requirement of the course whereby the participants are supposed to be sentient with different working environments, management practices and policies in vogue as to offer them a diversified exposure of practical working. This enables the senior civil servants to formulate and implement public policy for continuous improvement of governance at national and provincial level. The Chairman of Pemra Dr. Abdul Jabbar welcomed the delegation of 24 participants and briefed them about the mandate, functions, scope, performance and challenges related to Pemra. He apprised the participants of various initiatives being taken by PEMRA to “transform electronic media into more vibrant, objective and sensible organ.

He told that the initiatives are both qualitative and quantitative and of course its implementation would be done in consultation with the stakeholders and media organizations. Ultimately, it is the media who have to realize their responsibility and Pemra in isolation may not be able to yield desired results, said Pemra Chairman. Tauqir Ahmed, the Director General of National Institute of Management concluded the session with the special gratitude to the Chairman of Pemra for offering valuable inputs to the participants and also assured their continued cooperation to Pemra wherever needed.
