LAHORE – The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz will not let the Pakistan People’s Party delay general election over law and order situation in Balochistan and Karachi, said PML-N Senator Tariq Azeem.

“The PML-N will not let the federal government exploit law and order situation in Balochistan and Karachi,” Azeem told TheNation.

He said his party was monitoring the situation and felt that the government was deliberately showing laxity over the issue. The PML-N will take every action if the government tries to take advantage of the situation, the senator said, adding that his party will not accept any unconstitutional step like emergency under any such pretext.

Azeem said his party was wary of the PPP’s intentions to get President Asif Ali Zardari re-elected for another term and it was in the hunt for such an excuse to do so.

He said other parties including, the JI and the PTI, favoured timely general elections and they would also not support any attempt to delay the election. He stressed that fresh elections were solution to the problems plaguing Balochistan and Karachi.

He blamed unrest in Karachi and Balochistan on the PPP, saying that bad governance resulted in chaos. Had the government discharged its responsibilities, the situation would have been improved, he asserted.
