BAHAWALPUR – A bus-van collision claimed five lives including a 3-month child near Noorpur, around 25 kilometers away from Bahawalpur, on Wednesday.

Five members of the same family were traveling from Bahawalpur to Mithra Bebglow Yazman to take part in a funeral prayers. But due to the fog and high speed, the bus hit the van in the rear. As a result, 5 members of a family died on the spot and eight others suffered injuries. They were shifted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital by Rescue 1122 and the condition of the injured persons was stated to be stable.

The deceased were identified as Nazar Muhammad, Sughra, Zafran and Zeeshan. They were residents of Moza Khuda Baksh Channar near Musafir Khana.  The injured persons included Sardaran, Fazlan, Wazeeran Bibi, Fazeela, Rahiman, Muhammad Kabeer and Zahra. A case has been registered against the driver of the bus.

According to 1122 Rescue In charge Dr Rahim Channar, they received a call at 4:46 am early in the morning about this accident. The Rescuers reached on the spot within 15 minutes and started the operation which was closed at 6:45am. Highway Traffic Police Inspector Aamir Shahzad said that the accident happened due to complete negligence of the bus driver and fog. In Sargodha, two died and one severely injured in three separate road mishaps. Azhar Mehmood, a resident of Satellite Town, was going on a motorcycle along with his wife Zhuran, 50, towards Bhalwal. When they reached near 26 Railway Crossing, Ajnala Road, a high-speed car hit them in the rear. Resultantly, Zhuran died on the spot.

Similarly, Ejaz Ahmed of 153/SB died in a collision with a van at Tanoka Railway Crossing. Sillanwali police reached the spot and arrested the negligent driver Ghulam Muhammad of Sillanwali. Likewise, a car (LEB/4591) hit and critically injured Asad Wali, 8, of Sherazi Town near Din Colony Road.

ROBBERIES: During the incidents of dacoity and theft cash, gold ornaments, motorcycles and cellphones were snatched.  As per details, Faisal Akram, a resident of Uch Sharif with his family was going to Lahore in a car when two motorcycle-riders intercepted the car.  They snatched cash, gold ornaments and two cellphones from them. Meanwhile, Gulzar Ahmad, a resident of Azam Town was going on Renala Bypass when two dacoits intercepted him and snatched motorcycle, cash and cellphone from him.  Similarly, Haji Asghar Khan, a resident of Seith Colony parked his van outside his house.

 However, when he came out from house found the vehicle missing.

In another incident of dacoity in 28/4/L, 11 dacoits entered cattle crossing farm of Mohammad Ramzan. They lifted buffaloes worth Rs0.6 million. The police have registered separate cases.
