SARGODHA (STAFF REPORTER): The Punjab govt has decided to establish forest check posts to curb increasing incidents of timber theft in Sargodha Division. The staff deployed at these checkposts will play vital role to thwart evil designs of wood mafia. At least nine forest checkposts will be established at entrance and exit points in all four districts of the division. In Sargodha district, a checkpost will be set up on Lahore Road near Sial Morr; in district Khushab, on Sargodha Road at Jhelum River Bridge by relocating present Qaidabad Noor Shah Road at Qaidabad.

; in Mianwali district, on Khushab Road Qudratabad; Rawalpindi Road at Fakharabad and Mianwali Muzaffargarh Road at Hameed Kot while in Bhakkar district, check posts will be set up at Rangpur Kallurkot Road at Ali Khel, Bhakkar Muzaffargarh Road, Asif Pully, Lahore Dera Ismail Khan Road Shakkarwala and Lahore Dera Ismail Khan Road near Khansar Chungi.

According to chief conservator of Forests Northern Zone sources, the proposed forest check posts in various in Sargodha Forest Circle are notified to eliminate the menace of illicit transport of wood from state forests and to facilitate transport of wood from the private sector under transit permit.
