BANNU- Marvi Memon chairman NA standing committee on Information has visited Bannu Jail to meet  detained affectees, besides condemning the arrests made in connection with Bannu incident.

Official sources said she obtained details from the arrested Bannu incident affectees in jail and inquired about their welfare. Marvi Memon said she had come to visit Bannu jail under the directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif adding she was grieved over Bannu incident. Affectees of North Waziristan are benefactors of the nation, PM is being kept informed constantly about their woes, she stated. Federal government will help the affectees at every cost to address their grievances, she assured.

She said that Federal Government will take all possible steps for their welfare. She called upon the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to play its due role in resolving the problems of TDPs and immediately release the arrested persons.

Memon stressed that she will continue staging sit-in for the arrested IDPs until they are released. “The IDPs were assaulted when they approached police for the provision of tents,” the MNA added.

Earlier on November 13, eight policemen and 11 internally IDPs were injured in a clash at a ration centre near Bannu Sports Complex, right before the arrival of international donors of United Nation Development Program (UNDP) in the district. The IDPs started pelting the policemen with stones, leading to a brawl, while the security forces resorted to aerial firing and tear gas shelling to disperse the IDPs.
