ISLAMABAD - The Pacer Cricket Academy (PCA) set to be introduced in Pakistan after a huge success in United Kingdom (UK).

The idea was conceived by two friends Masood Mirza (ex-first class cricketer) and Ata Ur Rehman (ex-Test cricketer) involved in professional cricket and coaching in UK. The intention was to contribute to the development of cricket in Pakistan from the grassroots levels and to promote it worldwide. Both shared their thoughts with great Wasim Akram who strongly endorsed the idea and offered his full support.

The PCA provides cricket coaching and training programmes to players from all age groups and the aim is to raise the standards of how cricket is coached through the PCA's unique systematic approach as well as coaching panel's unparalleled playing experience at the highest level, backed by exceedingly qualified monitoring and assessment, post programme support and player pathways teams.

The PCA is organising ‘Wasim Akram 3-day talent hunt and cricket training camp’ at Shalimar cricket ground. The day one will witness open trials of pre-registered cricketers along with a separate practicing net session going on for school students or junior cricketers. Training and coaching will start on the second day for the selected cricketers, who will receive personal tips and coaching from Wasim Akram as he will spend the entire day with the boys. The key highlights of this event will be participation from some of the leading national and international cricket celebrities and stars, especially engaged by the PCA, personally supervising the talent hunt and coaching activities to the selected players.

The three-day cricket camp will also include the launching ceremony of the Pacer Cricket Academy UK planned on the evening of the day two at 1969 Lok Versa Islamabad.

Wasim, with all cricket stars engaged for the duration of the three-day camp, will attend exclusive ceremony, besides dignitaries from PCB, ICA and RCA.

The panel of experts comprising ex-cricketers like M Yousuf, Shoaib Akhtar, Yasir Arafat, Ata Ur Rehman, Bazid Khan, experience coaches from the UK mainly including M Haroon (ECB-Level-IV), Syed Zubair Shah (ECB Level-II), M Zahid (ECB Level-II), and Masood Mirza (ECB Level-II).

The PCA will soon publish a book on fast bowling "The science and art of fast bowling" by Wasim Akram and Ata Ur Rehman. The book has combined both the science and art of fast bowling emphasising on the five chains of commands - mental, physical, tactical, technical, biomechanical, and environmental commands. Through careful and studious research, the PCA has also introduced new movement of efficiency to create speed into the action. The PCA realises that bowlers are not same and cannot teach in same way. The book also includes coaches corner, talent identification criteria for the selectors to give the coaches and the selectors a real insight as to what are key factors to identify in order to monitor and develop a fast bowling talent.
