The Punjab government has released funds to the tune of Rs3.54 billion for 263 developmental projects in Bahawalpur Division and 50 percent work has been completed on these projects.

It was told in the meeting of Divisional Coordination Committee in which Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Captain (r) Javed Akbar was briefed regarding development projects initiated on the recommendation of Federal Minister Education Baligur Rehman and other member assemblies.

The participants reviewed all projects related to education, Health, Roads, Sports and Water.

The commissioner informed that Rs1.27 billion had been released for the construction of roads in the division. Bahawalpur to Hasilpur Road and Northern Bypass will be constructed while the construction of Head Rajkaan to Ahmadpur East, Yazman to Ahmadpur East and Mubarakpur to Jhangi roads has been approved.

The meeting was informed that the Punjab government had allocated Rs500 million for the construction a bridge over Indus River between Meeranpur and Bangla Acha which will make travel to Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan more convenient.

He said that in Khanpur Rs40 million would be spent on the construction of Cholistan Cadet College, adding that Rs75 million would be spent on the construction of parks and separate horticulture department.

He directed the officials concerned that buildings of such colleges which were near to completion should be made operational.
