WASHINGTON - The United States welcomed Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s visit to Islamabad and the prospects for improved relationship between the two neighbours.

“We welcome the prospect of improved cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan,” State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said at the press briefing on Friday. The spokesperson noted that the visit provides a “good opportunity for dialogue” between the two countries.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has reached Islamabad and claimed to advent a new era of bilateral ties with Pakistan  and efforts for regional stability.
