PESHAWAR - Awami National Party (ANP) Central Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan warned that he would not tolerate the target killing of his workers and would take to streets against the government if a single party worker was targeted in future.

“Awami National Party was not allowed for its campaign in the previous general elections and it was collecting the dead bodies of its workers while leaders of other political parties were busy in their political rallies,” he remarked while addressing a well-attended party workers convention in Neshtar Hall Peshawar.

Central General Secretary Mian Ifikhar Hussain, Senior Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Provincial President Awami National Party Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, Provincial Information Secretary Sardar Hussain Babak and General Secretary National Youth Organisation Hassan Khan Buneri were present on the occasion.

The ANP president said that certain people were blaming Awami National Party and its leader for failure to deliver in the previous government but they should realize the fact that Awami National Party through 18th amendment ensured provincial autonomy.

“Is promoting education and establishment of 10 universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was not achievement? Is renaming the province and giving Pakhtuns their identity is not a success of ANP government,” Asfandyar questioned.

Regarding creating of new provinces in the province, the ANP chief said that his party will never accept to approve such proposal and would not allow anyone to divide the resources of this small province. He dispelled the impression of supporting Nawaz Sharif government, saying that they were supporting democracy not a single political party.

Regarding peace process in Afghanistan and Pakistan, he linked peace in Pakistan with peace in Afghanistan and said that both nations and governments should cooperate with each other for ensuring everlasting peace in the region.

Addressing on the occasion, ANP Provincial President and Member of National Assembly Ameer Haider Khan Hoti said that no stone would be left unturned to unite Pakhtuns from Chitral to Dera Ismail Khan and like the previous mission he will fulfil this responsibility with dedication.

Despite tall claims of PTI government regarding change in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said that in last two years they have not constructed a single primary school.

He said in its government, the ANP repatriated three million IDPs of Malakand division to their homes with full respect while the IDPs of North Waziristan are still languishing in various camps.

Awami National Party Central General Secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that Pakhtuns need unity and discipline and if they are united, no nation of the world could defeat them. He said that ANP is the party of martyrs and it always negated the ideology of violence and terrorism.

He warned that killing of innocent people in the province would not be tolerated anymore and they would stage sit-in against the government for not ensuring security of life and property of the citizens.

On this occasion, the party worker chanted full-throated slogans in favour of ANP, Shaheed Bashir Bilour and Khan Abdul Ghafar Khan.
