OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE The Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa has said that he will try his best to acquire the land on 99-year lease for extension of Special Education and Training Center (SETC). He also announced Rs one billion donation for the institution. He was addressing the concluding function at Special Education and Training Center (SETC), Johar Town on Friday. The event was organised in connection with 30 years founding day celebrations of the institution. On the occasion, Project Director SETC and Prof Emeritus KEMU Dr Khalida Tareen, Prof Dr IAK Tareen, Dr Parviaz Hasan and principal SETC also addressed the function. On the occasion, the SETC children presented tableau on Allama Mohammad Iqbals poetry, national anthem, national songs and recreational activities. An exhibition of handicrafts made by special children was also organised on the occasion wherein special children displayed their works. The participants appreciated the children and SECT for such wonderful work. Addressing the ceremony, the governor said the children were real asset of the country and their education and training was more necessary. He further said the SETC was serving the nation in real meanings. Appreciating the efforts of SETC, he said the institution was enhancing the abilities of disabled persons and made them a responsible citizen which was commendable. Dr Khalida Tareen in her address said SETC was serving from last 30 years for providing the education, training and vocational facilities to the disabled children. She said the children of SETC had won 90 medals in Punjab Olympic contests and 10 gold medals in National Olympic contests. She said more than 180 disabled children and 500 normal children of the poor families were studying in the institution and the institution was them books, uniform and milk at free of cost. She said due to rising number of children, they needed more land for expansion.
