A Grand Jirga between elders of Mehsud tribe and the officials of Armed forces and Political Administration held in Tank on Saturday agreed to start the repatriation of Internally Displaced Mehsud tribe people (IDPs) from 30th April. Brigadier Shahid Mehmood Kiyani talking to the elders of Mehsud tribe of South Waziristan Agency (SWA) in the political administration compound in Tank, said that it was their foremost duty to provide security to the tribesmen during repatriation to their homes. It was top priority of the armed forces to facilitate the IDPs in the repatriation process and provide security of life and property to them he said. Assistant Political Agent Laddah, Jamal Azmat said that all the necessary arrangements for the repatriation of the IDPs have been finalized. He claimed that officials of Political Administration have already arrived in the areas where the IDPs will be repatriated to facilitate the displaced people for their resettlement. Elders of the Meshud tribe praised and welcomed the repatriation decision and hoped that they would be extended necessary facilities once they were back so that they could restart their normal life as according to them every thing has been destroyed there. It is pertinent to be mentioned here that IDPs of Mehsud tribe had left their homes over an year ago when armed forces initiated operation against Taliban loyal to Chief of Tehrek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) late Baitullah Mehsud. The migrated Mehsuds families started to live in makeshift camps in the suburbs of Tank, Dera Ismail Khan and several families left for Sindh to take refuge and earn their livelihood there. The government of Pakistan with the help of foreign funded NGOs had started the repatriation process two months ago but it was later on stopped without mentioning any reason.
