LAHORE - DIG (Operations) Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar on Sunday suspended four police officers including a Sub-Inspector and two ASIs for showing negligence and adopting lethargic attitude with citizens during duties hours.

Dogar in plainclothes visited various imperatives points of the City while driving a private car without any security or protocol. The spokesman said that the DIG caught SI Rauf Ahmed red handed as the cop was demanding illegal gratification from a citizen Muhammad Rafiq in the name of checking at a point in Mohilnwal. He suspended the SI on the spot and admonished him on his shameful act.

Similarly, ASI Muhammad Nasir was observed misbehaving with a family of a citizen Muhammad Kashif Imran at a police picket. Likewise, ASI Muneer Ahmed was dozing at a chair near Sagian Bridge on which the DIG suspended the both ASIs and ordered SPs concerned to take necessary legal action against them. Dogar, however, gave Rs 2000 as reward to a head constable Arif for showing polite attitude while dealing with the citizens.

 The DIG told TheNation that he would never tolerate such cops, who would behave with citizens in such inhuman way. He said suck black sheep cops were earning bad name for the department whereas honest and hard working police officers were the asset of the police department.

GM Dogar further said that due to such corrupt police officers, long queues are witnessed on both sides of the road in the name of checking. He, however, pledged that strict action would be initiated against corrupt, dishonest and criminal cops.
