PESHAWAR - Terming the recently adopted resolution by the Parliament regarding restoration of NATO supply ‘treason with the nation’, Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) on Sunday warned the government to refrain from resumption of supply ,otherwise, it would be stopped with force.Pakistan’s sovereignty lies in implementation of Islamic system, for which, the DPC is struggling, it said. They said this while speaking at a public meeting ‘Difa-e-Pakistan Conference’ held at Motorway Chowk on Ring Road.  Instead of dividing the nation politically and linguistically there is need to get the nation united and foil nefarious designs of the US and its allies, speakers of the DPC said.Prominent among the speakers were the DPC’s Chairman Maulana Sami-ul-Haq, JUD’s Ameer Prof.Hafiz Saeed, ex-ISI chief Gen.(Retd) Hameed Gul, JI’s General Secretary Liaquat Baloch, Jamiat Eshat-e-Tauheed Wal Sunnah’s Ameer Maulana Muhammad Tayyab, Ansar-ul-Uma’s Ameer Maulana Fazl Rehman Khalil, Ahle Sunnat Wal Jumaat’s Ameer Maulana Muhammad Ahmed Ludhianvi, Ex-Premier Azad Kashmir Sardar Atiq Ahmad Khan, JUP’s Ameer Sahibzada Abdul Khair, JUI (Nazriati’s) Ameer Maulana Abdul Qadir and Alami Khatm-i-Nabuwat’s Ameer Maulana Ilyas Chinioti.Activists of all the religio-political parties of DPC participated in the conference.  Large banners and posters were installed in and outside the venue described with anti-American and pro-Jehad slogans. Strict security measures were taken around the venue of the conference by the local police and the activists of the DPC. In their respective speeches, they came down hard on government and demanded that not only the weapons but the food supply through Pakistan should also be stopped to the NATO forces stationed in Afghanistan. They said that they would not accept government decision regarding the restoration of NATO supply and it would be stopped with force at all costs. The countrymen would block ways of the NATO containers, if the government allowed the transportation via Pakistan, it added.  They were of the view that the Parliamentarians have committed treason by compromising on the sovereignty and integrity of the country. ‘They should be ashamed of their act’, the speakers maintained. The prompt response of the US towards the conditions set in the resolution was a slap on the face of the Parliament of Pakistan, as it categorically stated that it was not going to stop drone attack on FATA, they said, adding, that US and its allies have launched crusade against Muslim countries. Most of the speakers, who are leading their respective religious parties said that restoration of NATO supply was akin to helping the allied forces to prolong their stay in Afghanistan. ‘People of Pakistan would not accept resolution of the Parliament as well as its decision on resuming NATO supply and will show the world that this act of the Parliament was against the wishes of the people of Pakistan’, they remarked. They said that US-India nexus in Afghanistan was harmful for the interests of Pakistan aimed at destabilising Pakistan, adding, that all the religious and political forces should forge unity to foil the intrigues being hatched against the country. Peace in the region, they said would return with the withdrawal of the US-led NATO forces from Afghanistan. The DPC leaders said that both the US and India were involved in Balochistan’s insurgency as well as unrest in Gilgit-Baltistan as well. They said that DPC did not want to reach Islamabad but actually desire for the implementation of Islamic system in Pakistan, adding, that Pakistan must be an independent, Islamic welfare state. They said that they have come to know that government was planning to ban the DPC, adding, that any such decision would not be accepted and if it was done they would be resist the decision effectively.
