ISLAMABAD - Rejecting the demand of Mian Nawaz Sharif for holding early elections, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani once again made it loud and clear that government would complete its mandated term and elections would be held on schedule.Talking to media here at Prime Minister’s House on Sunday, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said that Federal Cabinet in its next meeting would discuss the priorities of the Federal budget and said that their budget priorities are creation of new jobs, food security and meeting the energy shortfall by exploiting all resources to generate power. He also announced incentives for farmers in the upcoming budget so that the agriculture production would increase which in turn would help them ensure food security.To a question about Seraiki province, he said that all the Parliamentarians of major political parties including MQM, ANP and PML-N have extended support to the Seraiki province. To a question about the presence of Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad, Gilani said that it was the failure of intelligence agencies of the world powers.To another question, he said that government was working on restructuring of the country’s relations with US in the light of the recommendations of Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) which was duly approved by the Joint Sitting of the Parliament. He hoped that United States would respect the recommendations of the country’s Parliament and stated that the future relations with US would be established on strong and solid footing. To a question about the Bannu jail incident, he said that he had already ordered inquiry into the matter. Terming the allegations against his son in the scam of drug import, Gilani said that earlier when his elder son Abdul Qadir Gilani was implicated in the Haj scam he had directed him to join the FIA inquiry and his advice to his younger son would be the same right now, as he believed in the rule of law.Referring to the smear campaign to malign his family, Prime Minsiter Gilani informed the media persons that inquiry into the matter was in progress where some lady impersonating herself as his daughter managed to get some NGO closed down. He said the government has controlled the problem of inflation which remained an international phenomenon.He said the provinces are responsible for controlling price-hike and profiteering.However, the Federal government is even sharing the burden of provinces by importing fertilisers worth billions of rupees and then giving it to the farmers as subsidy, he added.Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) will continue simultaneously with other programmes to provide relief to the people, he said. He said PML-Q chief, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain gave him the suggestion that the Federal and provincial governments should pool their resources to resolve the issue of circular debt.To a question, he said Pakistan sees US as a partner and relations of the two countries should be based on mutual interest and respect. He said during his meeting with US President Barack Obama during the Security Summit in Seoul, he conveyed his viewpoint that Pakistan and US could not take forward their bilateral ties without the support of the people.President Obama responded that his country respects sovereignty of Pakistan and will also respect the resolution of the Parliament but their security needs should also be taken care of. He said foreigners should not use soil of Pakistan for spread of terrorism.The whole world is concerned is about the issue of terrorism and it is embarrassing when terrorist incidents happen, he added. About presence of Osama bin Laden, he said it was the intelligence failure of the world.ISI and CIA were working together to achieve the target and many high value targets were nabbed, he added. The Prime Minister said there is no confrontation with the Supreme Court. However, appointment of officers including Attorney General is prerogative of the government.The Prime Minister said if Imran Khan has any formula to get rid of corruption in 19 days, then he should inform him (Prime Minister) and he will implement suggestions.
