LAHOREL Lahore DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf yesterday directed the field police officers to personally respond to the emergency calls and also visit the crime scene in their respective jurisdiction.

The officer also warned the sub-divisional police officers and station house officers that crime burking would not be tolerated at any cost.

The DIG issued these directions while presiding over the monthly anti-crime meeting of the Cantonment police division. SP Cantonment, and all the DSPs, and SHOs were also present in the meeting.

Haider Ashraf also directed the officers to step up crackdown on the proclaimed offenders and most wanted criminals. The field officers were asked to constitute special raiding parties to hunt down hardened criminals.

The DIG reviewed the crime and law and order situation in the cantonment police division and expressed his dissatisfaction over the rise in street crimes in the limits of Defence-A, Defence-B, South Cantonment, and Factory Area police stations.

The city operations police chief directed the SHOs of DHA, South Cantonment, and Factory Area police stations to improve their performance and take concrete measures to control crime in their jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, the police officers were directed to ensure the use of biometric machines during search and security sweeps in order to check the particulars of individuals.–Staff Reporter
