LAHORE - Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Kamran Michael, while felicitating the nation on the Independence Day, termed democracy as a delicate plant which must be protected through every possible mean.

“Let’s pledge on this day to follow the traditions of our forefathers and the leaders in the struggle for independence,” Michael said in the Punjab capital during a ceremony in connection with the Day.

The federal minister said every citizen of the country, irrespective of faith, is Pakistani and bears the national duty to save the motherland from all evils.

Commenting on the current scenario in the country, he said that some ‘political jugglers’ were in the field but their game would be over soon as the masses would not allow the self-centered elements rob democracy from them.

He further said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had invited Imran Khan to talk with open heart but Khan refused, adding that things would ultimately be solved through negotiations.

He said that anti-government elements which were ignoring the offer of the government and “playing in the hands of their foreign masters to create anarchy and frustration in the country” would never succeed in their nefarious designs and would be exposed very soon.
