LAHORE – Test discarded left-handed middle-order batsman Umar Amin who was recalled in Pakistan’s Twenty20 squad for their much-awaited series against arch-rivals India, vowed to prove his mettle in India and eager to beat them on their own backyard.

A classy left-hander, who learnt from his past mistakes and removed weaknesses and flaws in his technique by proving his credentials in the domestic cricket. ~The Pakistan team’s head coach Dav Whatmore had also visited Islamabad to assess his batting technique and monitor his weaknesses was impressed with his batting and later gave some tips for further improvement his batting. Umar Amin made his international debut in the 2010 Asia Cup but failed to prove his mettle and scored just 34 runs from three innings. Later in the same year he made his Test debut during the tour of England where he could score with an average of 12 from the four Tests he played against Australia and England.

A close friend of Umar Amin while talking to this scribe said that the classy left-handed batsmen is ready to make amends for the lost opportunities in the past  and the series against archrivals India is going to be cracking for him. He quoted by his friend as saying that Umar Amin feels no pressure of series but excited of playing cricket in India to prove his class and mettle to get a place in the Pakistan team for tour of South Africa.

Though Umar Amin has not visited in India to play cricket but wants to beat India in there, the source close to Umar added.

“It’s been a long time since Pakistan and India have played a series against each other and it’s fantastic for the fans and the players that the two Asian rivals are coming face to face in a cricket series. The excitement is building already for fans and the players.

Meanwhile, his coach Sabih Azhar while talking to this scribe said that he had worked very hard to remove his weaknesses and technical flaws due the free period. Sabih expressed the hope that he would Insha Allah will deliver for Pakistan against the arch-rivals India to cement his place in the Pakistan national team for the tour of South Africa. He said that I have told him to stay at the crease to assess the pace of wicket and rebuild his innings that will help him to play a big knock for Pakistan team.
