LAHORE (PPI) - The country cannot achieve the goal of economic prosperity until making the women an active part of trade and industry. It was stated by Yousaf Naseem Khokhar, Chief Executive Office, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) while addressing participants of the three-day oSpring Gala- 2011 concluded here Tuesday at Women Business Incubation Center (WBIC) of SMEDA. Syed Iqbal Anwar Kidwai, GM Out-reach, Bakhtiar Khan, GM Policy and Planning, Alamgir Chaudhry, Provincial Chief SMEDA- Punjab and Ms. Maimona Sattar, Project Manager, WBIC were also present on this occasion. CEO SMEDA expressed satisfaction over WBIC services for enhancing role of women in SME sector. He acknowledged that the center had provided women with a wide range of modern facilities to set up and run their own businesses. He appreciated WBIC management for organizing Spring Gala-2011 for women enterprises. However he emphasized to arrange more exhibitions to provide women entrepreneurs with strong marketing support. Yousaf Naseem Khokhar disclosed that government had granted approval to set up more women business centers in various cities at the pattern of WBIC, Lahore. Such centers were near to completion in Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta, he added. Ms. Maimona Sattar, Project Manager WBIC, while giving a briefing to SMEDA CEO said that a large number of women had graduated from the center during last three years. She said that the center, besides providing business facilitation, had also been organizing a series of valuable training programs and exhibitions for potential business women.
