The rather protracted struggle of people of Egypt to dislodge a dictator from his pedestal after thirty years has few parallels in history. It reminds one of Remeses II who ruled Egypt as a cruel despot for 65 years and did not obey the Lord even after witnessing nine signs. Eventually he was thrown in the sea along with his army to rid the country from him and his hosts. It appears some traces of the genes contained in the pharaoh of old and his hosts might be lurking in the President of Egypt and his Generals that were adamant in heeding the views of people of Egypt. But finally the strength of the people prevailed and all the guns and tanks sent by Mubarik could not subdue the Egyptians. DR. MUHAMMAD YAQOOB BHATTI, February 7.
