ISLAMABAD - Additional Director General (ADG) FIA Zafar Ahmed Qureshi will probe another National Police Foundation (NPF) mega corruption scam amounting to Rs8 billion on the directions of Ministry of Interior and he has constituted a committee in this connection. The Nation has learnt on good authority that the Interior Ministry appointed Zafar Qureshi as head of the investigation team to probe into Rs8 billion NPF corruption scam on the directions of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The SC had taken a suo moto notice on the issue and the apex court would hear the case on the 24th of February. Zafar Qureshi, who is also Managing Director of National Police Foundation, has constituted a committee comprising a deputy director, two assistant directors and one inspector of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) while a deputy director-level officer of NPF has also been included into the investigation team. Zafar Qureshi himself will supervise the investigations. The National Police Foundation scam had surfaced some weeks ago after an inquiry report submitted before Federal Interior Secretary Qamar Zaman Chaudhry stating that PML-N MNA, Anjum Aqeel Khan, was allegedly involved in Rs6 billion land scam in connivance with the four former NPF officials, including former managing director Iftikhar Ahmed Khan. However, an FIA official said that the agency through a birds eye view had estimated that the scam was about to embezzlement of Rs8 billions in place of Rs6 billions. The inquiry report alleged that Aqeel got 162-kanal of developed land of NPF Housing Colony on the basis of the Capital Development Authoritys (CDA) 54:46 formula, which governed the affiliation of private land with government housing schemes.
